My dear colleagues, it is such a joy and privilege to share with you all. As I mentioned during my introduction to this desk, improving patient’s care is a great way to change the public’s wrong perception about nursing/nurses.

TheSentNurse
I know there are certain hindrances to effective nursing care ranging from poor management, poor staffing (low human power), inadequate remuneration, family/relationship problem to mention few, but no patient would care to know the story behind your actions until you have attended to them/their relatives well.
One of the major things that can make you an exceptional nurse (in addition to your being academically / professionally equipped) is your willingness to really serve humanity; as our slogan is.
There are no two way to this!  Anything you are not doing with joy/happiness in your heart, you cannot do it well!
According to AL LOPEZ, he says “Do what you love to do and give it your best: Whether it’s business or baseball, or the theater, or any field. If you don’t love what you’re doing and you can’t give it your best, get out of it. Life is too short”.
You may have been cajoled into becoming a nurse, or you only liked the idea of being a nurse; while life threw some into nursing and only few became nurses because they really had the passion to nurse people. Whatever your reason is, now is the time to sit back and think about your life as a nurse. Are you really excited being a nurse or you are only using it to pass time?
If you will be compassionate/show empathy and give quality care to your patient, there must be a motivation. Something must excite and make you want to do it often even when other factors are not encouraging.
Are you still excited being a nurse?
What keeps you going? Why are you still in Nursing? Do you still want to be a nurse?
Leave your comments, contributions or questions.
